Description

IFC – a member of the World Bank Group .

It is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets.

The Economics and Private Sector Development Vice Presidency (CEDVP) is responsible for identifying and delivering on private sector diagnostic needs and draws on resources across the WBG to grow IFC’s capacity to deliver.

This department implements the ex-ante project impact assessment framework .

Anticipated Impact Measurement and Monitoring- AIMM

For investment and advisory projects throughout the project cycle, helps ensure high-quality economic support for IFC operations teams on strategies and projects.

Develops sector economic analyses, including impact evaluations, with a focus on solutions for private sector development.

Duties and accountabilities

  •  Support the Project Lead by coordinating all activities and related tasks

  •  Support research activities, analytical works and presentations

  •  Support communications with management


Specific duties include

  •  Support any other tasks deemed relevant for the CDIDF unit

  •  Lead the organization of field surveys and experiments

  •  Participate in due diligence trips

  •  Secure the availability of data and related literature

 Draft interim and final impact reports

  •  Support the organization of decision review meetings

Selection Criteria

  •  A post-graduate degree in economics, Ph.D. preferred

  •  5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience as an applied or research economist, with a specialization in development economics

  •  Exposure to telecoms, and topics in digital economics, especially digital infrastructure, will be a plus

  •  Strong project management skills, with experience in conducting field surveys in a developing country context would be prioritized

  •  Professional knowledge, prior work experience, and research experience related to structural econometric modeling, or Randomized Control Trials (RCT) will be prioritized

  •  Familiarity with the WBG or IFC’s environment would be a plus

  •  Excellent analytical and quantitative skills,

including advanced working knowledge of software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
