Actress Nomvelo Makhanya (Lindiwe) fired from Scandal for snitching – More details emerge

Well-Known Actress Nomvelo Makhanya Reveals Reasons Behind Her Departure from eTV’s Scandal!

Nomvelo Makhanya, a beloved actress known for her role as Lindiwe Maseko–Ngema on the popular eTV soap opera Scandal!, has recently shared more details about the circumstances leading to her departure from the show in 2022. At 28 years old, Makhanya has taken to social media and various platforms to discuss the challenges she faced during her time on the series.

Following her exit from Scandal!, Makhanya made waves by describing the working environment on the show as “toxic,” a situation she claimed nearly drove her to suicide. The show’s production team responded with a statement expressing their surprise at her allegations, asserting they were “unaware” of any toxic conditions and explaining that her character was written off because it had reached the end of its storyline.

In a recent interview on the Access Genie Podcast on YouTube, Makhanya provided further insight into her departure. She revealed that she was fired after reporting her director and floor manager for being intoxicated while on set. “I was written off a week and a half after I had reported them,” she shared. “I got called into the office, and the news was delivered to me as if I was the problem. But I took it like a champ and held my head high.”

Makhanya described how the situation escalated in her final months on the show, with increasing scrutiny and mistreatment from the production team. She recounted how she was criticized for minor issues and felt constantly targeted. “I stopped vlogging for my YouTube channel because I was told I was wasting production’s time, which was untrue. They found little things just to make it seem like I was a problem,” she explained. She also mentioned how she ceased promoting the show on her Instagram live videos due to similar complaints from the production.

After her departure from Scandal!, Makhanya faced significant challenges in finding new work. She disclosed that she was “redlisted,” meaning she was essentially blacklisted in the industry. “The minute you show up, they already know who you are because they have been told. They wanted to prove that they are bigger than me and that they made me. It is a power thing,” she stated.

The aftermath of losing her job was particularly tough for Makhanya, who admitted to struggling with severe anxiety and suicidal thoughts. “I was very suicidal just after I lost my job. I heard voices in my head constantly telling me that I deserved it. I spent so much of my time and gave so much of myself to that show for 10 years,” she said.

Despite these challenges, Makhanya has found a way to thrive outside of acting. She noted that she now makes a significant income through other ventures, proving her resilience and ability to overcome adversity.

Nomvelo Makhanya’s revelations shed light on the often hidden struggles faced by actors and the pressures of the entertainment industry. Her story underscores the importance of mental health and the need for supportive and healthy work environments. As she continues to build her life and career, Makhanya’s courage in speaking out serves as an inspiration to many.
