Johannesburg, South Africa — In a surprising twist in the world of local celebs, musician Tumelo Mphai, better known as DJ Melzi, is reportedly dating Lethabo Mekoa, who plays the teenage character Ntswaki on the popular TV show Skeem Saam.

According to reports by TshisaLIVE, DJ Melzi and Lethabo Mekoa have been spotted sharing affectionate posts on their social media accounts, fueling speculation about their relationship status. This new romance comes after DJ Melzi’s high-profile breakup with Andiswa Selepe, also known as The Bomb, in 2023.
A source close to DJ Melzi revealed to the publication that the musician is deeply invested in his relationship with Mekoa, despite his recent breakup. “He is too invested in his relationship with Lethabo. He wants to make things right this time around and keep things discreet. But everyone can see that they really love each other,” the source added.
When approached for a comment, DJ Melzi seemed reluctant to discuss his personal life, stating, “Why would you want to write such a story? WHO IS LETHABO MEKOA?
Lethabo Mekoa, beyond her role in Skeem Saam, is also a beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Teen RGP (Regional Gauteng Province) in 2023. Mekoa, born on September 14, 2004, in Pretoria, pursued her high school education at Prestige College. She secured three awards by the end of 2022, showcasing her dedication and talent.

Mekoa joined Skeem Saam in November 2022, portraying the character Ntswaki, the cousin of Meikie Maputla, played by Harriet Manamela. Mekoa described her character to The Citizen, highlighting that Ntswaki is independent and rebellious. “Ntswaki never listens to what anyone says. She does what she feels is good for her and she goes after what she wants. Mostly bad stuff, but if that’s what she wants, she will go for it anyway.”
Mekoa also shared that she finds it easy to portray Ntswaki because they share similar traits, adding that fans should “expect the unexpected” from her character.
