Famous actor caught in the act defrauding students once again

Actor Siyabonga Shibe Faces Backlash for Alleged Deception of Aspiring Actors

Renowned for his role in the Mzansi Wethu telenovela “Sibongile & The Dlaminis,” actor Siyabonga Shibe has once again found himself at the center of controversy. Reports have emerged accusing Shibe of failing to fulfill promises made to aspiring actors, leaving them disheartened and out of pocket.

In March, it was reported that Shibe had pledged bursaries to four film students for studies at AFDA, a prestigious film school in Johannesburg. However, these commitments were left unfulfilled, compelling students to abandon their aspirations or seek alternative funding. Now, a fresh scandal has emerged, with Shibe facing allegations of deceiving 25 film students with promises of securing roles in television, commercials, and films through his production company, Dream Up Productions.

Reports indicate that students paid substantial fees ranging from R10,000 to R20,000 to enroll in Shibe’s acting classes, anticipating significant roles upon completion. Some students claim to have paid even higher amounts, enticed by assurances of guaranteed industry placements.

However, it appears that Shibe has failed to deliver on his assurances. Despite collecting over R125,000 from aspiring actors, there is no evidence of any of them securing roles in Dream Up Productions’ projects. Moreover, allegations suggest that Shibe has not attended a single class or meeting with the students, prompting accusations of dishonesty and fraud.

Affected students, speaking anonymously to avoid repercussions, are now demanding refunds of their tuition fees. They feel betrayed and disillusioned by someone they had trusted to assist in launching their careers in entertainment.

This isn’t the first time Siyabonga Shibe has faced accusations of financial impropriety. His history of unfulfilled promises and allegations of dishonesty has tarnished his reputation within the industry and among aspiring actors.

The fallout from this scandal serves as a warning for those aspiring to enter the entertainment business. It underscores the importance of conducting thorough research and exercising caution when dealing with seemingly too-good-to-be-true promises.

As affected aspiring actors seek recourse, the long-term impact of this latest controversy on Shibe’s career and reputation remains uncertain. In an industry reliant on trust and integrity, the repercussions of such betrayal are profound and widespread.
