Florence Masebe Bids Farewell to ‘Skeem Saam’

Legendary actress Florence ‘Flo’ Masebe, who portrayed Meikie Maputla, has bid farewell to SABC1’s soapie, ‘Skeem Saam’.

Florence Masebe Says Goodbye

Florence Masebe took to social media on Monday, 24 June, to announce her departure from the show, thanking fans and the cast for their support.

“It’s almost time to say goodbye to the Turfloop bunch. Thank you for the beautiful ride. See you on the next… Ndi a livhuwa. Aa,” she wrote.

Masebe joined ‘Skeem Saam’ on Wednesday, 15 May, temporarily replacing Harriet Manamela, who was on sick leave. Manamela, the original Meikie Maputla, last appeared on the show on 5 April 2024.

Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonald confirmed that the educational soapie has been renewed for another season.

Fans of ‘Skeem Saam’ expressed their appreciation for Florence Masebe’s performance and seamless transition into the role of Meikie Maputla:

Harriet Manamela Explains Her Break from ‘Skeem Saam’

Harriet Manamela has recovered from her hip surgery and is ready to return to ‘Skeem Saam’. She took a break for her health, having had hip replacement surgery at the beginning of the year.

“I had a hip replacement surgery beginning of the year hence I was given a break from shooting. Thank you to everyone for wishing me well. Even though there was no clear explanation why I had to be off the screen and production had to find a sit in for me.

“Your support and wishing me well humbles my heart and you all much appreciated. Now that production is on a shooting break it’s more time to enjoy seeing people and catching up.”

Manamela has been a part of ‘Skeem Saam’ since its debut on SABC1 on 13 October 2011, and fans are excited for her return.
