On June 24, new reports have surfaced that Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke has been involved in yet another car accident. Details are still emerging, and these reports have yet to be confirmed by his team or family.
Heartbroken Shebeshxt Attends Daughter’s Funeral in a Wheelchair
Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke, the celebrated Limpopo rapper, attended his daughter Onthatile Chuene’s funeral in a wheelchair on Saturday, June 22. The 9-year-old was laid to rest at Lebowakgomo cemetery in Zone F.
Funeral Service of Shebeshxt’s Daughter
Shebeshxt, visibly heartbroken and recovering from his injuries, arrived at the funeral service in a minibus. Wrapped in a mini blanket and wearing a woolen hat, he was accompanied by security personnel and medical staff. The artist, carrying an oxygen cylinder, was wheeled to the marquee where mourners gathered.
Unable to attend the burial at the cemetery due to his frail condition, Shebeshxt broke down when he saw his daughter’s coffin. The tight security at the funeral ensured that no pictures were taken of the grieving father during this emotional moment.
Tributes to Onthatile Chuene
Onthatile’s principal, Margaret Lekganyane, from Northern Academy, shared heartfelt memories of the young girl. She recounted the day Shebeshxt enrolled Onthatile, causing a stir among the students.
“Teachers couldn’t understand why the learners were peering through the windows and screaming. Because I am not a fan of Shebeshxt’s music, I couldn’t understand what the fuss was all about,” Lekganyane said.
Shebeshxt had told the principal that he wanted the best education for his daughter. Lekganyane recalled how every time the rapper came to pick up Onthatile, students would gather around his car, causing a commotion. They eventually advised him to use unfamiliar entrances to avoid the chaos.
“One thing we have learned from Chauke is that he loved his daughter and wanted the best for her,” concluded Lekganyane.
Accident Details
Onthatile Chuene tragically passed away on June 8 in a car crash on the R37 road near Smelters Mine, Limpopo. The fatal accident occurred as Shebeshxt’s VW Polo collided head-on with a truck while he was en route to perform at an ANC Siyanqoba Rally celebration concert. The crash left Onthatile so badly disfigured that family members were advised not to view her body during the visitation.
Shebeshxt was initially admitted to Polokwane Provincial Hospital but was later transferred to Netcare Pholoso Hospital with the assistance of EFF leader Julius Malema, who is reportedly covering his medical bills.
The funeral, attended by a large crowd of mourners, including politicians and artists, highlighted the deep bond between Shebeshxt and his daughter, as well as the community’s support for the grieving family.
