How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Programme Specialist (P3), the intern will assist in internal and external communication and knowledge sharing on HIV. 

Specific Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Support research and content development for knowledge products and special projects on topics related to children and HIV 
  • Assist in writing and editing key publications and knowledge products as needed, including lessons learned and case studies of country level initiatives 
  • Write stories of programmatic work to be featured in the bimonthly internal and external Global Health newsletters 

  • Support to maintain internal and external websites (Sharepoint communication site, childrenanaids.org – Drupal) and digital design/content of announcements to the Children and AIDS Learning Collaborative (community of practice) through MailChimp.

  • This internship will complement current academic training and provide exposure to the global EMTCT, paediatric and adolescent HIV development agenda. 
  • The intern will expand existing skills in technical writing, organizational and communication experience, gain hands-on experience organizing global meetings and apply newly acquired research skills to identify pertinent and timely content for the website, community of practice, literature reviews and tool development. 

  • This internship will provide the chance to test out potential career choices in the area of technical communication, knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation and global public health, by gaining real-life experience in a culturally diverse international organization. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Letter of verification from the college or university that the intern is currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school and has completed at least two years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of an undergraduate degree (if the candidate is 18 years old, this replaces the two-year bachelor’s completion requirement); or, Graduate Degree Program (i.e., Master’s, PhD).  It should also state the expected graduation date.  Recent graduates are allowed until 2 years after degree completion. 

  • Copy of their most recent official transcript showing excellent academic performance  
  • Copy of Identification Card (ID) 
  • One letter of signed recommendation on letterhead or from professional email address 

Qualifications:  

Education and language requirements:  

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate (Master’s) degree in the area of public/global health, medical anthropology, health communications/promotion, gender studies, social sciences or a related field; 
  • Excellent academic performance, as demonstrated by academic records; 
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills; 
  • Coursework or experience related to HIV programming is a distinct advantage;
